Nigeria gets yet another M-payment solution after Globacom unveils Verve M-PIN.

Globacom, a Nigerian telecommunication company, has launched a new M-Payment product known as Verve M-PIN.

The new product, powered by Glo Txt Cash, will enable users to handle cash payments, settle bills and make payment on goods and services right from their phones. It will be available to all Globacom subscribers and non-subscribers.

Adewale Sangowawa, Globacom Executive Director, confirmed that the company is set to partner with financial institutions in the country to deliver the payment solutions. Over 20 million people will benefit from this partnership.

Subscribers will be able to pay for their cable TV bills, airline tickets, hotel bills, bank transfers and even mobile credit top ups.

In countries like Kenya and Tanzania, mobile payment for goods and services are now a norm. Kenya has four leading mobile payment platforms, M-Pesa, Airtel Money, Yu Cash and Orange Money.

Globacom started its operations in Ghana in April after a 3-year delay to launch its operations in the West African country. The National Communication Authority of Ghana threatened to slap a fine of $200,000 on the operator for the delay.
