IBM launches Innovation Centre in Nairobi

IBM launched a client and innovation centre in Nairobi yesterday which will allow clients to walk in and discuss their innovation plans.

The centre is a result of the Smarter Planet initiative started five years ago by IBM which aims to bring about the reality of living in a globally integrated world.

“The centre will help IBM understand the region’s opportunities and the best path to success,” Tony Mwai, country general manager at IBM East Africa said at the launch.

“Experts at the centre will work with clients, business partners, entrepreneurs, academia and IT professionals to meet to access knowledge, expertise and innovation and to build the solutions and skills needed to succeed.”

The innovation centre focuses on new technologies and approaches to modernising East Africa’s systems-transportation, water and public safety and make them smarter.

It also provides support to startup companies companies through access to software, knowledgeable people and promotional resources.

Local classes and other opportunities will also be offered.it will also offer local classes and other opportunities that complement the developerWork resources.

The centre is set to offer training opportunities that support IBM’s ecosystem of clients.

It has access to a wide range of resources such as meeting rooms, speakers, logistical support, customer event hosting, technical expertise and equipments to assist clients in building and testing applications
