Kenyans appear excited at the prospect of being able to chat with the banks chiefs thanks to an online initiative by the Kenya Bankers Association (KBA) dubbed My Chat with a Bank CEO.
The KBA online chat session has attracted 120, 000 followers so far through social media and 1,200 people have gone ahead to register to “speak” directly to the various bank chief executive officers (CEO) who have agreed to host the quarterly chat sessions.
“The ‘My Chat with a Bank CEO’ has become quite popular, reaching a wide audience each quarter,” said Habil Olaka, KBA CEO.
Those taking part include Jeremy Awuori, of Barclays Bank of Kenya, Jeremy Ngunze, of Commercial Bank of Africa, Joshua Oigara, of Kenya Commercial Bank, and David Wachira, of Consolidated Bank.
Olaka added that so far 13 CEOs have had sessions covering topics such as Banks and the Capital Markets, Financial Inclusion, Islamic Banking, Mortgages and Real Estate Investments, and Career Advice.
The events for the quarter will take place every week between May 15 and May 30. The complete schedule can be found on the KBA website where the chat sessions are hosted.
The next session will be on Thursday, May 16, and CBA chief Jeremy Ngunze will kick off the session at 10am on the topic Mobile Banking Innovations.
The KBA CEO Chat sessions are open to everyone and the public are encouraged to log on to engage with the decision makers to help advance the banking environment in Kenya.
