Ghana has broken the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial (SWIFT) record with a 20 per cent annual traffic for the period ended March 2013, along with a 56 per cent security market increase.
Announced at the African Regional Conference (ARC) in Gaborone, Botswana, SWIFT’s Ghana-based message business in security companies is its greatest success yet.
The new record statistics indicates a 16 per cent improvement for Africa.
SWIFT provides financial message services to more than 10,000 banks, security companies and corporate clients in 212 countries and areas.
As a continent, Africa boasts more than 42 per cent of security market growth, leading total SWIFT traffic performance.
Hugo Smit, head of Swift Africa South, told Ghana Business News: “Africa is one of the most dynamic and fast growing regions in the world today and in many aspects is leading the world in regional development projects that will help to boost intra-Africa trade and drive economic growth even further.”
According to the financial service giant, the youth of African capital results in low basegrowth.
In April, the World Bank declared the time “ripe” forAfrican investments.
