Vodacom Tanzania has partnered with the government of Finland through Sibesonke Ltd to launch a mobile application providing farmers with important information.
“We are very happy and enthusiastic of our cooperation with Sibesonke Ltd,” said Kelvin Twissa, head of brand and communication at Vodacom Tanzania, at the launch event.
“Agricultural development is critical to the economy of this nation and disseminating information to farmers through mobile phones will go a long way in supporting the sector.”
Twissa urged farmers to make use of the new development to take agriculture and Tanzania as a whole to the next level.
Also present at the launch event was Finland’s Minister for European affairs and Foreign Trade Alexander Stubb, who said: “We have worked with Tanzania in various projects before. We are excited to continue with our relationship by launching this partnership which we believe will be of great importance to the agricultural sector of this nation.”
Sibesonke’s chief executive officer (CEO) Uwe Schwarz said that before this emerging markets did not have life-improving content on a social network for their basic phones. She added that her company was very excited about the partnership with Vodacom in Tanzania.
