Yahoo! has joined the bidding for video service Hulu, just days after announcing the US$1.1 billion acquisition of blogging platform Tumblr.
Reuters reports two sources with knowledge of the bid say Yahoo! has joined a number of other bidders in seeking to acquire Hulu, which sources say could be worth between US1 billion and US$2 billion.
HumanIPO reported last week on Yahoo!’s acquisition of Tumblr, with the company now setting its sites on Hulu’s revenues, which hit almost US$700 million last year. The company is currently owned by Disney, News Corp and Comcast.
Other suitors KKR, Silver Lake Partners, Time Warner Cable, Guggenheim Digital, Directv and Chernin Group.
