A guidebook called “iPad in Education for Dummies” has been released in Cape Town, South Africa, promoting the use of the tablet in classroom activities.
Serving as a guide to the incorporation of the iPad in education, the book, available since May 24, details different learning styles to be applied in the classroom.
Author Sam Gliksman included app suggestions, interactive lesson plans and some technical help in understanding the benefits and functions of iPad features.
The application of the learning tool is also encouraged in digital storytelling as a modern edition of creative motivation.
Gliksman wrote: “Storytelling is an integral part of education that spans all ages and academic disciplines.
“Digital storytelling simply raises the art to a new level of experience that can be a refreshing and engaging alternative to more traditional content and text-based educational practices.”
HumanIPO reported last week on social education entrepreneur Barbara Mallinson’s opinion on social learning as the future of teaching.
Speaking to HumanIPO, Mallinson suggested tablets as a possible candidate for use in classroom, on the premises of affordability and availability.
There are more than 200 iPad-geared schools in South Africa, including 140 private schools and 60 iSchools through corporate sponsorship.
Tech education consultant Gliksman has more than 7,000 interactive global educators on his website, iPads in Education.
