Web education can prevent cyber bullying, report reveals

Web-based education can help to decrease cyber bullying, recently published Taiwanese Plos One research findings revealed.

Following a series of tests on junior high school students, the researchers and authors of educational program WebQuest contested the effect of education on cyber bully possibilities.

Knowledge, attitude and intention were the key elements monitored through digital measurement on web page layout questionnaires.

“Cyber bullying prevention WebQuest course can immediately enhance the knowledge and reduce the intention of cyber bullying and is successful for retaining learning effects,” the report stated.

Available across various academic subject fields, the course is designed to be used in the classroom and aimed to continually be improved according to teacher observations.

Prevention can be enhanced through peer cooperation through the improvement in attitude towards cyber bullying.

According to researcher Yen-Yu, the course content focused on knowledge and subsequent behavioural change is more important than emphasising the notion behind the course.

In this way, intention is changed in the individual’s mind through exploration-orientated course material.
