Galaxy S4 Mini unveiled

Samsung has unveiled the new Galaxy S4 Mini ahead of its June 20 event in london to launch new Galaxy and ATIV brands.

HumanIPO reported yesterday Samsung had sent out invitations to the Samsung Premier 2013 event in London, where the company was expected to announce new additions to its ATIV and Galaxy lines.

The invitation, posted online, gave little information about what people can expect from the event, but Samsung has now preempted speculation by unveiling the new phone.

“We appreciate such unprecedented demands for the Galaxy S4 that we aimed to provide users with life companion for a fuller, richer and simpler life,” said Samsung chief executive officer (CEO) JK Shin.

“And now,we want to give people more choices with Galaxy S4 Mini, similar look and feel for Galaxy S4 for more compact and practical usages. The new Galaxy S4 mini provides consumers with a new way to enjoy the flagship Galaxy S4 experience.”

The phone, a compact version of the Galaxy S4, has 1.7 GHz dual-core processor, Android 4.2.2, 8GB internal memory expandable up to 64GB, and 1.5GB of RAM.

It will be available in two colours – White Frost and Black Mist – while there is LTE support  in 6 band sets and single and dual-SIM 3G versions for certain markets.

HumanIPO reported on the launch of the Galaxy S4 in March, with the smartphone including the much anticipated “smart scroll and smart pause” feature which monitors users’ eye movements.

Samsung has since sold more than 10 million of the handsets less than a month after it debuted, making it the company’s fastest selling smartphone to date.

The company said the S4′s predecessor the S3 hit the 10 million mark sales 50 days after its 2012 launch, with S2 and GS taking five and seven months respectively.
