Kenya’s security firm Securex Agencies is turning to online measures to counter the spate of theft, carjacking and robberies that have plagued Nairobi and the rest of the country.
The company, one of the largest security firms in Kenya, has deviated from the norm and is banking more on awareness to get their message across, with the company’s managing director Tony Sahni saying crime prevention starts by making people more aware of what is happening around them.
“Once someone knows the areas to avoid and are more conscious of what the new tricks and crime trends are, it is easier for him or her to plan accordingly and hence be safer,” he said.
“By virtue of having a workforce of almost 4,000 employees in Kenya, and a state of the art communications centre at our headquarters on Parklands Road, we are able to receive a massive amount of data.”
Securex is doing away with monthly newsletters and replacing them with daily email briefings.
The briefings mainly highlight the incidents that have taken place all over Nairobi, and can be shared with friends and family.
After receiving positive feedback Securex has now branched out into social media, where incidents are reported as they happen, causing the company to be considered the leading security company in its use of the tool.
Securex Agencies deals with provision of security solutions for some of the biggest shopping malls and corporate bodies, guarding technological gadgets and services such as Cash in Transit.
