Online advertiser the Dealfish brand would soon be replaced by OLX (Online Exchange), the biggest online classified ads site in the world, says TechLoy’s chief editor Loy Okezie.
This is also according to Neil Schwartzman, CEO of MIH Internet, Sub-Saharan Africa.
No communication to ascertain this has however not yet been made, but it could surely happen as it did for Kalahari brand.
Schwartzman said the need to merge Dealfish and OLX is to open up the African market to a bigger global network that OLX provides.
Naspers the company that owns Dealfish under the MIH Internet umbrella has 70 percent share of OLX.
MIH brand hold several online businesses such as Dealfish, Mocality and the defunct Kalahari online store. There are more than 24 online businesses the company pushes.
But Schwartzman confirmed that there will be no job losses as the staff in Dealfish will be absorbed into OLX. This transition is meant to benefit the company rather than tear it down.
This means the OLX network will be launching in Kenya and Nigeria where Dealfish has its presence aside from South Africa.
Advertisers on the Dealfish platform will be notified in due time by the company.
