Nigeria’s leading e-commerce site Jumia has completed a payment partnership with MasterCard as well as exclusive product deals with Nokia, Dell and Intel.
HumanIPO reported earlier today Jumia was celebrating its one year anniversary and had secured US$35 million in investment from Millicom.
Afam Anyika, public relations manager at Jumia, revealed the details of the deal to HumanIPO.
With MasterCard, Jumia has launched the payment solutions company’s internet gateway service and customers that pay for services using their MasterCards will be offered discounts.
Anyika said they had also become an exclusive online partner for Intel, Dell and Nokia.
Under the partnerships with Dell and Intel, Jumia will be the only platform where the products could be procured in Nigeria for a specified duration, after which such products would become available on other platforms.
“Partnership with Intel [is] to sell laptops, educate Nigerians on which laptops to buy,” Anyika said.
Dell will also offer laptops through Jumia, while Nokia will sell its Lumia 520 and 720 smartphones.
The period of exclusivity on the Jumia site will be between three weeks to three months.
