MultiChoice is launching two new channels on DStv in South Africa, including a crime offering from News Corporation.
True Movies 1 will go live tomorrow (Wednesday), while FOX Crime will become available on July 9. Both channels will only be accessible through the DStv Premium packages.
Collins Kumalo, chief executive officer (CEO) of MultiChoice South Africa, said: “We wanted to give our Premium customers a movie channel like no other – True Movies 1 is a perfect complement to the almost 15 movie channels available to our Premium customers on DStv.”
The arrival of a FOX channel is a signal of intent from global media giant News Corporation, which controls Fox International Channels Africa.
Alessandro Tucci, FOX senior vice president and general manager Africa, said: “We’re extremely excited to launch in Africa, one of the most successful Fox channel brands worldwide.”
Kumalo added: “FOX Crime has been very successful internationally and we expect that it will keep crime and investigation lovers in South Africa entertained.”
