MultiChoice, through GOtv, is seeking to make inroads into the Ugandan digital television market by expanding outside of Kampala and Entebbe.
Every African country is required to complete the migration from analogue to digital signal by July, 2015, and GOtv’s Uganda segment manager has updated journalists on the company plans.
“We have been operating within Kampala and Entebbe for the past two years but we are soon moving to several other parts of the country,” said Kiconco, reports The Observer.
GOtv entered the Ugandan and Kenyan markets two years ago. In Kenya it partnered with the state-owned Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) so as to defend its market share.
So far the company has been using low costs to attract more subscribers.
In order to expand and suit customers’ needs, GOtv has also introduced payment through mobile money and is focusing of locally developed content.
