The organisers of Mobile Monday Nigeria (MMN) are partnering with the Lagos state government and VConnect to hold their first hackathon on Monday June 24.
Lanre Folarin, MMN’s manager for membership and public relations, said the focus will be on developing a mobile web app that allows users to find great movies in local cinemas.
“Developers are to create a mobile web application in ASP.NET or PHP enabling users discover great movies in local cinemas,” Folarin said.
“Users should be able to locate movies based on their location and proximity to cinemas. The app should leverage social media API’s to allow users to recommend and rate movies.”
Sponsored by VConnect Global Services, operators of the VConnect.com information search portal, the hackathon is aimed at engaging a community of developers, while creating a useful app.
Organisers also disclosed the sponsor would provide database structure with sample data on the day of the hackathon, while developers are allowed to modify or use their own database structure.
Each team that takes part should have four members and participants can come with their own team or form one once at the venue.
