Kenyan Mobile App developers have been urged to come up with solutions for the global market if they have to be featured in the Samsung App store.
Speaking during the just ended Google Student Summit in Nairobi, Kenya, Samsung Electronics Africa Product Manager, Jaco Van Zyl, said the technology giant would however support local Mobile Web Application developers to make sure they access the global market.
The Samsung App store is a global store accessed by millions of mobile phone subscribers who download quality android applications for entertainment, education, games, lifestyle, travel and productivity and work and the Kenyan developers have an equal chance just as their international counterparts he said.
Samsung promised to host commercially viable Android mobile applications on its Samsung Apps, found on all Samsung Smartphones, as Samsung Executives took the young audience on the unique features on the Android supported Galaxy Pocket and Samsung Galaxy SIII smartphones.
Robert Ngeru, the Samsung Electronics East Africa Business Leader, said: “53 percent of all the operating systems in the market is Android and therefore local developers would be assured of the marketability of their apps due to its versatility and capacity to host more applications and features.”
The summit drew students from different universities across the Sub-Saharan Africa with an aim of enhancing their professional development, leadership, and communication skills, as well as access to a unique network of Google Ambassadors.
