Facebook has launched a new feature allowing users to attach a photo when commenting on status updates.
he camera button on comment boxes will allow users to insert photos directly into their comments.
Previously, users could only share an image as a comment by posting a link. It would then pull the image as a thumbnail for easy viewing.
The new feature was developed during a hackathon by Facebook engineers and is being rolled out globally for all users today.
Facebook engineer Bob Baldwin, who helped build the feature, said: “I hope this will make threads with friends more expressive and engaging.”
Baldwin also said he was inspired to create the photo comments feature because “sometimes showing a photo helps me tell a story much better than words alone”.
HumanIPO reported on Tuesday Facebook was planning on bringing video-sharing to its photo-sharing app Instagram.
