Ghana ready to face cable theft

Ghana’s Ministry of Communications has revealed its National Security Agency plans to combat recurring cable theft incidents which frequently disrupt telecom services countrywide.

Edward Omane Boamah, minister of communications, spoke after a meeting with local telecom operators Tigo and Expresso, declaring the government’s readiness to tackle cable theft chaos through telecommunication collaborations.

Boamah encouraged operators to implement strategies which ensure mobile connection and extended services availability in rural communities.

Referring to the previously announced governmental broadband project, the minister also appealed to dissatisfied subscribers to move to another network.

El Amir Ahmed Yussif, chief executive officer (CEO) at Expresso, has expressed the company’s diligence in working its way towards become the leading inter-data service provider in the country.

Adil El Yousseffi, general manager at Tigo, said he was satisfied with the meeting with the government and the topics of discussion.
