Egypt’s first price comparison site, BKAM.com, has received investment from United Arab Emirates-based Jabbar Internet Group, and is planning further expansion in the Middle East.
The website, which launched in October 2012 and has both Arabic and English language versions, is the first of its kind in Egypt and has more than 6,000 daily visits. Its mobile application has been downloaded more than 50,000 times.
BKAM.com has already launched in UAE and a Saudi Arabia launch is expected in 2013 as well.
Regarding the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, Mahmoud Abdel Fattah, founder of BKAM.com, said: “With a total internet population of 110 million, consumers will need more services to help them make online purchase decisions.
“BKAM.com aims to become the ultimate source of information for any consumer seeking to make any kind of product purchase.”
Fattah also highlighted statistics from Wamda which said e-commerce spend in the region is expected to reach US$15 billion a year by 2015. In 2012 it was US$9 billion.
