Telkom’s increase in new voice and data prices, to come into effect on August 1, has been set almost at almost one fifth of the guiding South African Consumer Price Index.
Prices will be increased by 1.3 per cent, while the Consumer Price Index is currently 5.6 per cent.
Manelisa Mavuso, Telkom’s managing director of consumer services and retail, said: “Telkom is committed to serving customers’ best interests and to making telecommunications accessible to all South Africans.”
The price adjustments also include a decrease in the tariffs for outgoing fixed to mobile calls, which will be ZAR1.30 per minute during peak time and ZAR1.05 during off-peak time.
DSL and Telkom Internet monthly subscription charges will be unchanged.
Among the other changes is a 6 per cent increase in installation charges, while line rental for PrepaidFone has also increased by the same amount.
