Intel Corporation has announced plans to accelerate the launch of chips for mobile gadgets, follow the market trend away from PCs.
Brian Krzanich, recently appointed chief executive officer (CEO) at Intel, revealed plans to roll out more wearable devices, smartphones and tablets.
Engagement with the television industry, however, is not for certain as the company does not associate its brand with content.
“We believe we have a great user interface and the compression-decompression technology is fantastic, but in the end, if we want to provide that service it comes down to content,” Krzanich said.
However, he added: “We are not experts in the content industry and we’re being careful.”
Krzanich agreed with Renee James, president at Intel, about the company’s focus on wearable computing devices as significant in the mobile market.
Wearable gadgets for ears and eyes will be launched between the end of 2013 and the beginning of 2014.
The executives spoke to media at the first event for press since May,Reuters reported.
HumanIPO reported last month on Intel’s release of a new chip series.
