There has however been no response from the Ugandan authorities over the issue, although the deputy district commissioner for Nyatike has assured fishermen of their safety calling the incident a misunderstanding.
Migingo has been the centre of rivalry between the two countries and shaped part of the election pledges by various political candidates with all promising to address the issue.
