The technological divide between developed and developing nations should be eliminated to create equal economic opportunities globally, Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete has said.

According to Kikwete, technology should be used to distribute economic development evenly to the masses.

He said this while addressing delegates at a Think Tank session in Smart Partnership Dialogue on Sunday, reports the Daily News.

Indicating public service delivery as one area where technology can be used, Kikwete said that technology, including ICT, can assist the development of the nations.

The Smart Partnership Dialogue event which strengthens discussions on scientific and technological issues all over the world was held from Friday to Sunday in Dar es Salaam under the theme Leveraging Technology for Africa’s Socio Economic Development.

Participants held discussions at round tables where government officials, key industry leaders, multi millionaires and small scale entrepreneurs, scientists, Nobel prize winners and upcoming students engaged in dialogue.
