Cape Town-based tech startup Prodigy Finance will be hosting a hackathon, offering gadgets to outstanding Ruby coders.
Prodigy Labs and Platform45 have invited developers of all levels of expertise to participate from Friday, July 5 at 7pm to Saturday, July 6 at 8pm at the labs in Gardens, Cape Town.
The challenge set to developers encompasses the provision of a loan through a social online profile.
A winning social credit-scoring algorithm based on social activity through community interaction on networks such as LinkedIn, Facebook or Twitter will be the goal.
iPad minis, Bose headphones and matblac wallets will be at stake as developers engage with Ruby hacking.
“We are looking to bring together the developer community in Cape Town in a fun, collaborative environment,” Aaron Fuchs, product manager at Prodigy Finance, posted on Facebook.
Stellenbosch-based group Maties developers will also be offering internships to hackers interested to enhance their Ruby skills.
Participants can register online and will be offered meals and refreshments throughout.
