A recent survey by All Media and Products Survey (AMPS) showed First National Bank South Africa as leading in online banking.
FNB has been on the right path in using technology to promote its banking products. The bank has fully embraced mobile phone transaction with the latest product being the geo-payment app for smartphones.
“We have more than 1.2 million active online banking customers. We do not attempt to inflate our number of Online customers by including registered, but inactive customers,” FNB Online CEO Lee-Anne van Zyl said.
“We have seen a 98 percent growth in new customers opening accounts via Online banking. Their first point of contact with FNB is via our landing page, rather than in a branch,” van Zyl added.
Online banking software — such as 22seven — have become popular money management apps in South Africa.
Earlier this month, All Media and Products survey also gave FNB South Africa a mark as the best bank in utilizing mobile banking methods.
