The first ever awards for the software industry in South Africa will be presented at the inaugural Software Week in Cape Town. The annual event will be hosted from October 13 to 19, 2012 in Cape Town at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC).
The weeklong event aims to promote and draw attention to the software industry in South Africa and Africa as a whole.
Various exhibitions showcasing some of the international and local software solutions will grace the event.
Apart from the exhibitions, there will also be training seminars and courses arranged for anyone interested not only in software programming but other related fields of study such as business analysis, software testing, technical writing, change management and related knowledge domains and specializations in software development.
The main aim of the training programmes and courses will be to encourage the development of technical software skills and foster innovation.
Parallel to the 5-day exhibition and training, there will also be a 3-day conference which will focus on matters relevant to the software industry and will include the main program and breakaway sessions.
The pinnacle of the event will undoubtedly be the launching of the local (South Africa) Software Industry Awards at the Gala Awards Dinner.
The awards will recognise outstanding achievements in the software industry. Those to be rewarded will include works of organizations and professionals who have contributed to making the software industry as great as it is today.
The exhibition centre will be open to the public during the 5 days of the event.
