MTN has rolled out Electronic Payment Terminals (EPT) in Cameroon, making airtime available around the clock in spots such as nightclubs and pharmacies.
MTN Cameroon has partnered with Easy Pay to produce the airtime distribution system, which will be available in kiosks with a device similar to a cash distribution machine and in a small version.
The technology is inspired by the same models used by banks for electronic payments, with kiosks able to accept XAF1,000 (US$2), XAF2,000 (US$4), XAF5,000 (US$10) and XAF10,000 (US$20) bank notes.
Mobile money transactions with MTN can also be done through the EPTs.
