Chris Uwaje, the newly appointed Board of Trustees (BoT) chairman at the Nigerian Association of Information Technology Enabled Outsourcing Companies (NAITEOC), has declared the country Nigeria can exceed India and Asian countries through Business Processing Outsourcing (BPO).
Uwaje was speaking yesterday in Abuja at the inauguration at the BoT.
“We can do much more than India and China and even exceed our Diaspora remittance of US$20 billion annually,” he said.
Uwaje said Nigeria could generate around US$100 billion from foreign software outsourcing if it taps its rich wealth of human capital.
He also revealed the nation can create around 10 million jobs for Nigerians through BPO.
Concerning the inauguration, he described its fruition as an achievement for the incumbent administration and he encouraged the government and other stakeholders to enact policies that would be in favor of BPO in Nigeria.
“This is a task that must be done, and I want to believe with all my colleagues, who are pioneer of the industry and who have been yearning for the establishment of the BPO, that with this responsibility entrusted on us, we assure you that working with NITDA (National Information Technology Development Agency) is to ensure that all our best and expertise are put to bear and achieve fruitful venture for Nigeria,” Uwaje said.
