The Democratic Alliance (DA) has received written confirmation from Anwa Dramat, lieutenant and director of the Hawks crime unit conducting investigations into alleged corruption by Dina Pule, South Africa’s former minister of communications.
HumanIPO reported on Monday Marian Shinn, the shadow minister of communications for the DA, reported the doclet into the Pule case was missing and said it was either due to police incompetence or that the police had simply lost it.
Anti-corruption unit, the Hawks responded to Shinn’s statement by denying the docket was not lost and confirmed the investigation is ongoing.
The investigation is a result of an affidavit, which was submitted by Shinn to the South African Police Services (SAPS) in April this year.
“The letter confirms that the case is being transferred to the Serious Economic Offences Unit in Pretoria for investigation. The DA trusts the investigation will proceed with energy, without interference and with full cooperation from those involved,” said Shinn.
Shinn added: “Confirmation of the investigation into the former minister is a clear message to all who hold executive office: misuse your position and you will be investigated and held accountable.”
