Airtel among the sponsors of ‘Nigeria’s Got Talent’

Airtel Nigeria will partner with Optima Media Group and Rapid Blue Format to launch “Nigeria’s Got Talent,” a talent search reality TV show.

The three companies operating in Nigeria will sponsor the event. They have however not yet disclosed the amounts they are planning to inject.

A panel of three judges will decide on those with the most appealing talents. The public will later be allowed to make a ruling — by voting for the best competitors in the semi final and final shows.

The show will run through July to December 2012.

Optima Media Group Managing Director Rotimi Pedro said: ‘‘Among the significant features of the show is that it gives an opportunity to talented amateurs or unknown performers, with the results being decided by an audience vote.”

Pedro, emphasized that Nigeria will be in the world headlines like America, France and India who have been benefitting from the reality TV show.

The event is expected to attract youth from Nigeria, Africa’s largest oil producer.

Airtel Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director Deepak Srivastava said: “Airtel connects the youth in Nigeria to their friends, fun and aspirations. It has delivered great music, acting as well as achieved a lot in other endeavours including sports and academics.”

Nigeria’s Got Talent is a platform to fulfil our mission to enable them have the best fun with their friends and life dreams to reality, he said.

The entry fee per person for comedian, musician, singer, dancer, actor or actress is a non-refundable N1,000 while in group performances, each member will part with the same amount.

Application forms are available at Nigeriagottalent.com. The organisers have set the auditions for July 4.

Airtel Nigeria has been in the country offering communication services in addition to community outreach activities to improve the livelihoods of locals.
