Samsung to sell around 200 million Galaxy S III smartphones by end of year

Samsung Electronics released its Galaxy S III last week in the US. According to the South Korean electronics manufacturer, the phone’s demand by mobile operators and consumers is “tremendous.”

Samsung says it is expecting enormous sales by the end of 2012.

Samsung’s president of mobile communications business Shin Jong-kyun told reporters on Monday that the Galaxy S III global sales will exceed 10 million by July amid difficulties to meet market demand due to a shortcomings in the smartphones’ manufacturing components.

Even though Samsung’s share price fell by 4.2 percent, it expects to sell more than 10 million pieces by end of July and about 200 million phones by the end of this year.

Samsung Electronics estimates that by July, some 300 mobile carriers in 147 countries will retail its Galaxy S III to consumers before Apple’s iPhone 5’s debut.

According to Samsung, the Galaxy S III has tremendous features leveraging it over its competitors like the iPhone 4.

The Galaxy S III has a bigger screen, is thinner and lighter.

The smartphone has an eye-recognition technology that keeps the screen from dimming, has a voice command function, and enables quick sharing of bulk data among users via Near Field Communication (NFC) technology.
