The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) will be gathering ICT information to compile a statistical report on the country’s tech industry.
ICASA called on all industry role players to participate in the released questionnaire to compose an updated Status of the Sector report.
Completion of the report will serve as a platform for market reviews to prove the national market’s competence.
It will also adhere to the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) requirements which ICASA is subject to.
“This information is a critical component in responding to parliament and civil society’s concerns regarding the high cost of communications faced by the South African public,” ICASA said.
As part of the Cost to Communicate Programme launched in June, Excel submissions for the questionnaire will be open until September 12.
