Nokia Asha owners can now push email, calendar and contact data synchronization between compatible Microsoft Exchange email servers, making the phone business friendly.
The application will be available in the Asha 302 and Asha 303 brand.
“Nokia Asha phones blur the lines between feature phones and smartphones, and Mail for Exchange on the Asha 302 and Asha 303 represents a significant step forward in connecting the next billion people to more critical information around them,” Senior Vice President, Mobile Phones Services, Dieter May said.
May said: “Businesses in high growth economies want to stay competitive by keeping their operating expenditures low, and increasing employee productivity.”
May said: “Mail for Exchange on Asha 302 and Asha 303 helps to reduce costs by eliminating the need for expensive middleware, speeds up processes and enables business users to respond quickly to customer needs or communicate on the go, giving businesses more opportunity to succeed in today’s fast-paced world.”
This means that users of the two phones will get email, calendar and contact alerts on their phones, that will be stored on the Microsoft mail servers.
Users will also be able to read and reply to emails from their handsets, without using any apps. These utilities are usually found in smartphones meant for business people.
The new feature for the phones will be compatible with Microsoft Exchange 2003, 2007 and 2010 Servers, and Microsoft Office 365 Mobility online service. The service will also offer secure encrypted mail storage.
Nokia introduced the Asha brand in March this year with a campaign dubbed #letsqwerty. Nokia hasn’t officially established the sales of the qwerty phones.
