Samsung Electronics now manufactures 21-inch – and above – computer monitors in South Africa.
The venture, undertaken through Anyview Technology, one of the assembly plants that assembles Samsung’s TV technologies locally, is expected to offer local customers high quality assurance associated with the electronics company’s brand of computer monitors.
Samsung hopes the South African market will welcome the move that will ensure the technology manufacturer’s latest range of monitors remain “competitively priced.
Samsung Electronics South Africa director of IT Thierry Boulanger said the company is dedicated to delivery of innovative products to its customers and that it considers making the latest range of monitors affordable.
He added that the success of Samsung’s local TV business testifies the success of such local manufacturing model.
“We have confidence that the local assembly of the monitors will include a 3-year warranty,” he said.
Samsung expects the local model to enable it to grow this part of the business even further in 2012 where, according to Boulanger, the company is the leading brand in the monitors’ retail market.
The new monitors Samsung expects to introduce to the market will continue to provide consumers with “a smarter technology experience” including energy efficient LED monitors, incorporate 3D technology as well as provide less screen lag.
Samsung through the local manufacturing plant, has since employed 50 people towards the venture.
Boulanger said: “While the monitors and TVs are the only products intended for local manufacturing at the local assembly plant, we are proud to have invested further in the local market thus contributing to employment of locals in the developing countries.”
