South Africa’s City of Tshwane has emerged the overall winner of Alcatel-Lucent 2012 Dynamic Enterprise Award.
Tshwane was selected among other global enterprises in a variety of industries including healthcare, education, hospitality, and finance providing in-house and cloud services.
The city was termed to have the most innovative enterprise communications in highly dynamic environments.
It has deployed almost every technology Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise offers in their network infrastructure and communications, to support convergence, Unified Communications, mobility and data centre strategies using OmniSwitch switches, IPD routers, OmniPCX Communication Servers, performance management software, contact centre and security solutions.
Subesh Pillay Member of the Tshwane mayoral committee for economic development and planning said: “By doing so, the city has seen an improvement in the quality of its communications network and is saving US$345,000 a month.”
He was speaking at Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise’s annual Industry Analyst Conference in Chicago from 26 to 28 June.

To win the award, each finalist presented their Alcatell-Lucent Enterprise solution implementation to analysts attending Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise’s Annual Industry Analyst Conference. The Analysts then voted the winner, based on innovation, contribution to organizational transformation, vision and Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise partnership criteria.
