In an interview on a Finnish television, Risto Siilasmaa, of the Nokia board, said that Android OS would be their backup option if their Windows OS integration fails.
Nokia quickly sent a statement to GSMArena denying the reports of implementing the Android system in their future phone releases. Still, it didn’t deny the fact of “looking for options.”
Nokia has in the recent past suffered great market share losses. In early May, Samsung overtook the Finnish company becoming the number one phone manufacturer in term of sales.
Samsung has embraced the Google operating system and this is one of the reasons for its high sales volume.
Nokia on the other hand has stuck to the Symbian operating system and now wants to embrace Windows mobile OS. Nokia unveiled the new Lumia 900 that operates on Windows OS early this year.

In Africa, Android takes the lions share as the preferred development platform for IT developers giving Nokia’s Symbian a run for its money.
Nokia signed a contract with Windows. The contract has clauses that would prevent the company from applying any competing operating system. Therefore, Nokia might be with Windows for the long haul.
