Tata Communications has partnered with Main One Cable Company in a move that will see Nigeria’s content viewed live globally.
The partnership between the two will allow live video streaming by broadcast and film production firms in Nigeria. The streaming service will also enhance the reach of internationally produced content locally.
Mr. Genius Wong, Senior Vice-President in charge of Global Network Services at Tata Communications, said the company connected its global video network to Nigeria’s vast fibre network.
“We partnered with Main One Cable Company to link up the country to our scalable and high quality live stream video content network. Our video network will be dedicated to linking local broadcasters and media production in Nigeria and will later spread to cover the whole continent”.
According to Wong, the network will provide continuous and high quality video transmissions by media firms enabling them to compete globally. The network runs on bandwidth from Tata Communications and Main One fibre network.
This will see video enthusiasts in Nigeria enjoy live videos from their favourite channels or media houses. Producers can also allow their audience watch performances live. The service is available on fixed or an hourly basis.
