Nigeria’s leading telecommunications service provider TOP Telco has launched a partnership plan, alongside Ekiti state government and Globacom Limited, focused on creating jobs for about 1000 youths in the state of Ekiti.
Some 17 states including Nigeria’s capital Abuja have benefited from this charitable scheme, so far. The company says by doing so, they intend to get more Nigerian youths off the streets and into employment.
Mr. Tunde Amunikoro, head of globacom public sector department, said the project is mainly designed to eradicate poverty.
He added that their company is driven by the need to economically empower members of their operating environment, so their interest for the project goes beyond profit gain.
This agreement will have globacom provide public call office facilities worth several millions. They include 1000 units of parasols, power box, handsets, tables’ chairs, T-Shirts, caps, hawker jackets and recharge cards.
Globacom or Top Telco is a 100 percent Nigerian multinational communications company with over 25 million subscribers.
