Huawei advocates for extra ICT investment in Africa

During the fourth Entrepreneur Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, the telecommunication provider Huawei called for more ICT investment in the African continent.

Huawei Senior Vice President Chen Lifang said information communication and technology (ICT) is fundamental in economy growth. Africans have more requirements that must be addressed.

“Huawei will increase investment in the region to satisfy customers’ needs and expectations,” he said.
He pointed to unequal development in the ICT sector globally to have a negative impact in economic structures and growth.

The first objective of the industry should be to offer equal information access irrespective of geographical location, he said.
The broadband section will have special attention in investment set to increase socio-economic progress.
According to Huawei, the company has been in Africa providing telecommunication services for over 10 years.
It has empowered the locals by employing more than 2000 people. The firm has also established training centers as well as sustained e-government in Nigeria, Kenya, Egypt and Tunisia.
Huawei Technologies was founded by 1987 by Ren Zhengfi in China to offer networking and telecommunications equipment and services. It is currently a multinational company and ranked as the second largest supplier of Mobile Telecommunications equipments across the world.
