American chipmaker Intel and Futures Group, a global health-consulting firm, are on a joint mission to improve healthcare in Africa by summoning into use information and technology solutions.
The two have organised a technical workshop themed “Transforming ehealth with elearning in Africa” on august 2 in Nigeria. It will review current eHealth projects and national strategies of three East and West African countries namely Kenya, Nigeria, and Tanzania.
The event will address issues on current ehealth projects national strategies and discuss problems they face.
The workshop brings representatives from governments, the private sector, donors and the international development community who aim to formulate public-private partnership that advance healthcare information technology and support countries to overcome health challenges.
Participants will discuss and demonstrate the use of elearning tools and ways to train healthcare and delivery personnel on the use of ehealth technology.
Their experts will demonstrate practical ehealth and elearning applications on proven technological policies and even create a forum for experts to share experiences and formulate next steps.
Intel promises to to help create robust electronic medical records package for use in tracking important patient health information in rural and other inaccessible reach areas.
Bobby Jefferson, senior informatics officer for Futures Group, said they have seen ehealth efforts greatly improve the health of children, women and men in countries across the globe.
