Nokia is shifting its marketing strategy before the launch of its new Windows 8 smartphone this autumn.
The Finnish phone maker is reportedly in talks with some European telcos to make it its exclusive partner before it launches Windows 8 smartphone. The partners will also have a financial stake in the deal.
France Telecom and Deutsche Telekom are some of the firms already in talks with Nokia. The Windows 8 platform for the smartphone is from Microsoft.
According to Reuters report, NOkia is moving away from its traditional mass marketing sales approach to exclusive dedicated operator support. This would then make Nokia Windows 8 smartphones and the following handsets exclusively available to a few selected operators across Europe and the worldwide.
The firm recently cut more than 10,000 jobs and closed three facilities, slashed half price its Lumia 900 smartphone and recorded losses tried to make its handset business profitable but the firm has incurred losses and in debts.
Analysts view the partnership as a technique to stay afloat particularly after a delayed entry into the smartphone market.
