Sensitive information stored on TopTV’s website might have landed in the hands of hackers after a security breach of the site yesterday (Tuesday).
The TopTV website is currently accessible and seems to be operating normally after the hacking incident. The South African satellite television service has not yet released a statement regarding the sensitive information that might have been obtained by hackers.
“The IT department was working on the problem all day yesterday, New Year’s Day. The site will be restored shortly,” said Top TV’s Heather Kennedy.
According to MyBroadband, who received the information, affected pages of the site were replaced with temporary pages today. The security breach appeared to have affected the site’s home and contact pages.
However, the site’s second hit on Google, that links to their contact information, is still affected and reads “Hackeado por HighTech Brazil HackTeam NoOne – CrazyDuck – Otrasher – L34NDR0” while the TopTV main site states that “this site is down for maintenance”.
It would seem the same hackers defaced the PG Glass website, because it too displayed the same message found on TopTV’s contact page.
