MTN is the most nominated brand for the Ubuntu sustainable marketing category of the Loeries awards, with the category thriving in terms of nominations.
Sponsored by Unilever, the category has gained 80 per cent higher support than in 2012.
Chevrolet, Old Mutual and Nandos have also been nominated for the award.
Andre Human, chief executive officer (CEO) at Loeries, said: “The aim of the award is to recognise brands with environmentally and socially sustainable operations while crucially adding value to the bottom line.”
Human describes the crux as “doing good while doing business”.
Kaveh Zahedi, representative at the United Nations Environment Programme, said earlier this year: “Companies that adapt quickest to the new environmental realities are the likeliest to thrive.”
According to the organisation’s research, sustainable companies were most likely to perform well when measured for long term performance.
The entered work will be judged next month during the Loeries Creative Week to be held in Cape Town.
HumanIPO reported last week on the hosting of the Loeries exhibition at the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT).
