New Year’s Eve saw the announcement of the winners of the “2012 SA Blog Awards” after a public voting phase and decision by judges on categories which included “The Best Science and Technology Blog”.
The awards are organised with the aim of showcasing the very best of South African blogs.
According to the organisers, they “endeavour to bring South African bloggers to the forefront of peoples attention, both locally and internationally, increasing exposure for South Africa’s great bloggers; and in the end reach out and touch people who are outside the realm of blogging and have them discover the fantastic world of blogging.”
The awards are held annually and kick-off with a public voting phase where members of the public are encouraged to vote for their favourite blogs, with the top three in each category being shortlisted in each category.
Thereafter the judges decide the winner and runner-up for each category.
The category “The Best Science and Technology Blog” saw The Techie Guy blog as the eventual winner with Digital Street SA and El33t Online as runners up.
