EMC Southern Africa, the Southern African division of the global IT service and solution provider, has confirmed the appointment of Servaas Venter as its new Country Manager.
With the unexpected and sudden passing of the previous country manager, Inana Nkanza, in July 2012 Venter has been working in the country manager role in an acting capacity since August.
Venter said: “We will develop our talent pool to not only continuously improve, but also deliver on the company’s expectations. We will grow EMC’s market leadership locally and ensure that EMC acquires new accounts by executing our go-to-market strategy.”
His responsibilities include the company’s overall performance and strategy in the Southern African region.
Marketing, channel, human resources and financial operations reporting lines have also been added to his existing responsibilities.
Venter has been at EMC Southern Africa for more than a decade having joined the company in 2000 as a senior account manager.
In his role as senior account manager at EMC he was responsible for financial services accounts such as Absa, Nedbank and Standard Bank.
He was later in 2007 promoted to the role of district manager.
In July 2010 he was promoted to become an area manager responsible for EMC’s overall sales in South Africa and also holding cross-functional responsibility for channel and global services.
