200GB SkyDrive storage introduced by Microsoft

Microsoft has announced a new storage option for cloud platform SkyDrive enabling users to purchase 200GB of storage for US$100 a year.

The news was confirmed alongside the unveiling of its new Surface Pro 2 and Surface 2 tablets on Monday, giving the 200GB storage free for two years to anyone who bought the devices.

In a blog post, Microsoft’s principal group programme manager for SkyDrive.com Omar Shahine said the offer would also help those who are fully committed to cloud storage to remove any worries about data allowances.

“So we also want to make sure that your total SkyDrive storage space can keep growing in parallel,” Shahine said.

“So today, we are happy to introduce a new storage option to add 200GB of additional storage to your SkyDrive for US$100 per year.”
