Apple TV to arrive in South Africa

South Africans will be able to enjoy Apple TV from tomorrow (Friday), allowing consumers to stream content from their Apple devices onto the big screen.

The announcement was made after Apple enabled a limited amount of movies through the iTunes Store South Africa in December and may indicate more content will be made available through the local iTunes store.

For Apple TV “the recommended retail price is R1,099 (US$125.20) but this just a recommendation and may vary in different stores”.

In South Africa, the stores that will be selling Apple TV include the iStore, Digicape, Incredible Connection, Dion Wired, Makro and Hi-Fi Corporation.

“Apple TV makes it easy to enjoy iTunes video, music and photo libraries from your computer right on your HD (High Definition) TV,” said Apple. “With iCloud you can instantly enjoy content that was purchased on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch as well.”

Apple TV can be controlled through the Remote app, which allows the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch to serve as remote-controls.
