Following the release of Android 4.1 in June last year, South African HTC One X users are finally receiving update messages for the download of the new version, Android 4.2.
“MTN confirms that the update to Android 4.1 for the HTC One X will be available to its customers. The update will be available on the network by end of this week,” Mike Fairon, General Manager of Product Solutions at MTN said.
Over-the-air updates are downloadable at 367.2MB and is expected to reach all users within a few months.
While there are significant improvements in Android 4.1, codenamed “Jelly Bean”, it is not the latest version of Google’s mobile operating system.
Despite South African anticipation for Android 4.1 updates, the Android 4.2 release was already announced in November 2012 year by Google.
European HTC One X users were able to update by October last year.
South African Samsung Galaxy S3 users, however, have already been upgraded with Android 4.1, soon after the release announcement of Android 4.2.
Meanwhile, United States subscribers have been able to upgrade with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Update for Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 since Wednesday.
