Online music streamer Deezer, an affiliate of Orange, is now available to South Africans, making them the third such service in the country.
SA listeners can tune in to more than 20 million tracks for R79,99 per month on all devices and R39,99 for personal computers (PCs) only.
Deezer is the third online music streaming service to hit the South African market, trailing after the 2012 release of Simfy, by Primedia’s eXactmobile and rara.com.
Nigerians could stream Deezer from October last year, the third African country to receive the launch after Mauritius and the Ivory Coast.
Deezer supplies millions of songs to computers, cell phones and other mobile devices.
Orange has collaborated with the music service since 2010 in France, enhancing the streaming services with consumer communication packages.
This release is part of the expansion to Africa and Poland, as announced by Orange in June. The service has already proved to be successful in the United Kingdom and France.
The telecommunication group is also in the process of exploring the SA cell phone market for a niche in order to launch a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO).
Orange’s latest mobile release is the African Cup Of Nations (AFCON) app through which football fans can follow the series of matches.
