Lilly Zondo, MTN’s general manager of business risk, is expected to hand herself in to a Sandton police station after a warrant was issued for her arrest.
BusinessDay reports the warrant is connected to a case of extortion allegedly involving Zondo, where there were attempts for a bribe of ZAR300,000 (US$30,300) from Robert Madzonga, the suspended MTN South Africa corporate services executive.
“MTN is aware of an alleged warrant to arrest Ms Ms Zondo,” said Themba Nyathi, chief human resources officer at MTN South Africa. “We have no further comment to make at this stage. We will let the law take its course.”
A dispute between Madzonga and Zondo has been ongoing for months over the controversial ICT Indaba last year.
Madzonga registered a complaint against Zondo earlier this year, but it was him who ended up being suspended by the company.
